Sad to say, most people only use their blenders for a few basic things such as making smoothies. However, most modern blenders allow you some more creativity when it comes to making drinks, experimenting with ingredients and improving your cooking. If you are like most people who only use their blenders occasionally to make smoothies, you are missing out on many other ways to use this handy kitchen appliance. Here are some of the ways you can make most use of your blender:
Make baby food: Yes indeed, you can use your blender to make your own baby food for your toddlers. New mothers will agree that baby food is very costly, and it can be tough to pick the right type for your child. When you are making your own baby food, you save cost, and you know exactly what is in it.
Save time with ingredients: Laying out all your ingredients in the kitchen to prepare them for cooking can be a real time waster not to mention exhausting. Save your energy and time by blending most of your ingredients including onions, tomatoes, carrots, and spices. Just be cautious not to blend too much, or overwork your blender.
Whip it up: If you have friends and family members coming over for the weekend, you can use your blender to whip up dips, spreads and other exciting mixtures. Your family or friends will certainly appreciate the effort. If you have success with this, you can even turn it into a small side business and earn some extra cash.
Hard cheese & breadcrumbs: You can use your blender to grate hard cheeses like cheddar and Swiss, which otherwise can be a daunting task. Before you grate, cut them into small cubes and them to the jar via the feeder cap as the blender runs. You can also make breadcrumbs with your blender. For hard breadcrumbs use stale bread, while for soft crumbs use fresh bread.
Grind whole spices: Most blenders can also grind whole spices such as crackers, nuts and coffee beans. In this way, you can make tasty spice butters or nut butters. You can use the blender to grind poppy seeds, dissolve gelatin, grate fresh coconut, and reconstitute dry milk and frozen fruit juice. You can even puree hot soup in your blender. Just ensure the jar is half-full, and the feeder cup is open to allow steam to escape.
