Well, unless you decide to redecorate or remodel, it will look pretty similar to the way it looks now. You will still have the essentials: a range (although it may be a different one, since you'll need one with very low temperature settings), a refrigerator, and a sink. (You have dishwashers at the ends of your arms and trash compactors at the ends of your legs, so I don't consider either of those automatic appliances an essential piece of equipment.) It will also have a fruit and vegetable juicer of some sort, a wheatgrass juicer, if the other juicer can't juice wheatgrass, and a commercial grade blender or food processor. A dehydrator and a sprouter are nice additions, too, and some raw food lifers would consider them necessities.
What your raw food kitchen will NOT have is a microwave oven. There are several reasons for this; the most obvious being it gets food way too hot and way beyond raw. It also transforms food in ways that conventional cooking does not, and these transformations are NOT beneficial. They are, in fact, detrimental on a cellular level both in the food and in your body as those harmful qualities are transmitted to your body's cells. In addition to that, ALL microwave ovens leak, so anyone within 6 feet of it is exposed to harmful radiation every time it clicks on. And if all that doesn't make you want to banish it from your house, then how about this: Nazi's invented it for the express purpose of exterminating people. What else do you need to know?
Your raw food kitchen will also not need any specialized cookers or grills that do sandwiches, pastries, snacks or whole meals "in a jiffy". You can also pare down your supply of pots and pans, keeping only the best quality stainless and getting rid of everything else. A garage sale to liquidate the now unnecessary items will raise some funds to help purchase the new stuff.
Just a note on wheatgrass: this is nature's super food. Wheatgrass juice has remarkable similarities to hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood. Chlorophyll is soluble in fat particles, and fat particles are absorbed directly into the blood through the lymphatic system. In other words, the "blood" of wheatgrass, absorbed in humans, transforms into human blood, which transports nutrients to every cell in the body.
When you think about it, a totally grass fed pastured cow is a remarkably healthy animal. These 700-800 pound mommas give birth to healthy 30-40 pound babies, which they then nurse for another 3 months or more, if they're allowed to, and they do it all on grass. I consider a wheatgrass juicer essential equipment for a raw food diet, especially for detoxifying. And lest you misunderstand, you will need to detox on a regular basis, especially in an urban setting, so the raw food detox diet is not a one-time event. There are electric and manual wheatgrass juicers available. Some electric ones will also make raw nut butters and perform other food processing functions.
Work through your raw food diet blueprint and determine what changes you need to make to your kitchen. This isn't just a diet; it's a lifestyle change.
